Realme 2 gets a price cut in India, now available at a starting price of Rs 9499

realme 2 Pro has received an official price cut in India. The company's budget smartphone, which was launched in India last September with a starting price of Rs 13,990, is now selling with a starting price Rs 12,990 on Flipkart. The news was announced by Realme via a post on Twitter.

The base variant of the Realme 2 Pro with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal memory will now be selling for Rs 12,990, which is Rs 1,000 less than its launch price. On the other hand, 6GB RAM and 64GB storage variant of the device, which was available for Rs 15,990 at the time of the launch, is now available for Rs 14,990. However, the top variant of the Realme 2 Pro, which comes with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage space, has not received any price cut and it is still available for Rs 17,990 in the country.

In case you are curious about the specifications of the Realme 2 Pro, let me give you a crash course. The Realme 2 Pro comes with a 6.3-inch display with a resolution of 1080x2340 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19:5:9. It comes with a dewdrop notch on top which houses a 16MP camera with a lens aperture of f/2.0.

It is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 660 processor and it runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with ColorOS 5.2 on top. In terms of memory, the Realme 2 Pro is available in three memory variants -- 4GB RAM with 64GB storage, 6GB RAM with 64GB memory and 8GB RAM with 128GB internal memory. All the three variants come with a memory that can be expanded further using a microSD card with space up to 256GB. It comes with a dual-rear camera setup with 16MP cameras and it ships with a 4235 mAh battery.

Notably, this the first time that the Chinese smartphone maker has slashed the price of the Realme 2 Pro. Earlier this month, Realme slashed the price of one of its other popular smartphones - the Realme U1 - in India. The company announced a price cut of Rs 1,000 on the base variant of Realme U1, which comes with 3GB RAM and 32GB internal memory. The device was launched at a price of Rs 9499. The device now sells at Rs 9800 in India. On the other hand, the 4GB variant of the device, which sells for Rs 9999, remained unchanged.
